Registration

Registration for the National Capital 20 Miler and the Janet Braunstein 5 Miler races customarily opens each May, roughly four months before race day.

Under terms of the race permit, the size of the field (20 Miler and 5 Miler combined) is limited to 300 runners. All runners must remain in single file on the Towpath and must yield to pedestrians.

Note: there is no race day onsite registration available. Our permit does not allow us to transact business at a National Park Service venue.

Participants who would like to become members of DC Road Runners should consult the club’s membership information.

Registration Confirmation

Race participants can confirm their registrations via the master registration list. Contact the race directors if you have questions about your registration.

Timing and Bib Numbers

Bib numbers must be visible at all times during the race. The race will be chip-timed using the Chronotrack chip timing system.

All runners will be given a net and gun time. Overall awards will be based on gun time, and age group awards will be based on chip time.

Refund Policy

Registration fees are non-refundable, even in the event of race cancellation. However, we provide the following options:
  1. Request to switch from the 20-miler to the 5-miler race before packet pick-up.
  2. Transfer your registration to someone else. Transfers must be requested before packet pick-up.
  3. Registrants can always come to packet pickup to retrieve their t-shirts, even if they are not able to run.
